Approximately 35 KM (21.7 miles) from Vancouver, British Columbia. Hiking time round trip- 5 to 6 hrs. Round trip roughly 6KM (4 miles) to peak, 13KM (8 miles) return via north end of lake, elevation gain-455M (1488 feet). Best time is usually April to November.
Directions: From Vancouver drive to Port Moody, turn north onto Ioco Road and drive to Buntzen Lake. Watch for the Buntzen Lake signs that assist in finding the route. Turn into the parking lot and park near the south west end of the parking lot. Here there is a well defined trail that heads south west to a floating bridge. After crossing the bridge there is a trail a short distance away that heads off the road and into the forest. A short distance up the trail there is a fork. Take the fork marked Diaz Vistas. The trail is well marked and after crossing an open area with a pipeline it steadily climbs through a series of switchbacks. The trail provides great views of Indian Arm. The peak makes a good objective and turn back point or one can continue on for a longer hike. Continuing north from the peak the trail follows a ridge through the forest and then drops down to an old service road. Turn right and follow the road to another fork. Keep to the right until another fork is encountered. The left fork will go to a footbridge that crosses the north end of the lake to North Beach on the east side of the lake. From here one can pick up a trail that follows the east side shore back to South Beach and the parking lot.
