Directions: This hiking trail is located in the mountains a short distance to the east of Penticton. It follows the ridge along a canyon through which Ellis Creek runs. From Government Street, Penticton drive east on Carmi Avenue to Beaver Dell Road. The road climbs steadily. Turn right onto Beaver Dell Road. Just before the left turn onto the road to the Lost Moose Lodge Restaurant there is a parking area on the right. There are signs here providing information on the Garnet Fire (1994) and local wildlife. The short Canyon View trail provides scenic views of the canyon but has very sharp drop offs. For safety stay on the trail. The Ellis Ridge Trail heads east up and down a series of small ravines for quite a distance. It has some scenic spots and depending on the season one may see Mountain Sheep. It comes out onto a dirt road and more trails branch out from here. This appears to be an area for target practice, best stay clear if one hears shooting. The photos below show the route.
