Approximately 19 KM (12 miles) from Penticton, British Columbia. Biking time round trip- 2 to 3 hrs allowing for stops. Round trip roughly 16 KM (10 miles), elevation gain-189M (618 feet). Best time is usually May to September.
Directions: From Penticton drive north to Naramata. Continue past Naramata on North Naramata Road. A short distance past the turnoff to Naramata (Robinson Ave) Smethurst Road intersects North Naramata Road on the right. Follow Smethurst Road which climbs uphill to a parking area on the KVR rail bed. The Glen Fir rest area is roughly 8 KM (5 miles) north on the KVR up a 2.2% grade. Rock Oven 7 which was used to cook for construction crews in 1913 is roughly 3.3 KM (2.1 miles) north. Getting to Rock Oven 7 is about a 300 meters (0.2 miles) hike up a side trail. Little Tunnel is about 3.8 KM (2.4 miles) north. A short trail (Lady Bug Trail) which provides some very scenic views of Okanagan Lake is about 4.5 KM (2.8 miles) north. The bike ride to Glen Fir provides some excellent views of Okanagan Lake and the opposite shore. The ride back to the parking area is easy as one can just let the bike run.
